The absorption spectrum of some hydroxy azo-pyrazolone dyes (C. I. Acid Yellow 54, C. I. Acid Orange 74, and C. I. Acid Red 186) are assigned in organic solvents of varying polarities in relation to molecular structure and polarity of the medium. The ionization constants for the investigated compounds are calculated in aqueous buffer solutions and in buffer solutions containing ethanol, ethylene glycol, and dioxane. The pK(a) values depend largely on both the proportion and the nature of the organic solvents.
