Abstract
A TLV-TWA of 10 ppm (40 mg/m3) is recommended for occupational exposure to ethylene dichloride to minimize the potential for adverse effects on the liver and for narcosis that is accompanied or preceded by nausea, vomiting and dizziness. Data on the carcinogenic potential of ethylene dichloride are limited, but the incidence of tumorigenesis and the types of tumors at multiple sites in rats and mice dosed by oral gavage for 78 weeks, warrants an A4, Not Classifiable as a Human Carcinogen, notation. Sufficient data were not available to recommend Skin or SEN notations or a TLV-STEL.
