The paper deals with modification of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) with liquid low-molecular weight butadiene rubber (LB). The emphasis has been placed on a reduction of the energy consumed at mixing of SBR with active fillers. The influence of LB on curing properties of rubber compounds has been investigated. Participation of LB in curing reactions and in network formation has been also tested. LB has been found to decrease the energy consumed at mixing of rubber with active silica. LB doesn't influence neither the cure rate nor the scorch time, it only decreases the state of cure. LB takes part at curing reactions but it doesn't contribute to network formation.
