The dealuminated USY supported 12-tungstophosphoric acid was prepared and characterized by XRD, IR, NH3-TPD and nitrogen adsorption techniques. The Pt-bearing dealuminated USY supported 12-tungstophosphoric acid catalyst was measured in the hydroisomerization of n-heptane in an atmospheric fixed-bed microreactor. Comparative investigation was also carried out over USY or silica gel supported catalysts. The dealuminated USY supported 12-tungstophosphoric acid catalyst was found to exhibit the high catalytic activity in this reaction with a conversion of n-heptane at 29.8% and a selectivity for isomerization products at 94.1%, which is much higher than that of the 12-tungstophosphoric acid-free catalyst. The promotion effect of 12-tungstophosphoric acid was not observed over USY or silica gel supported catalysts. Both catalytic conversion and selectivity have been discussed in relation with the physical chemical property of catalysts.
