IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP The basic properties of some commonly used direct compression excipients are evaluated, and the effects of these properties on the final dosage forms are examined. Properties of lactose, microcrystalline cellulose and calcium phosphate dibasic are discussed. Recommendations for the use of scanning electron microscopy, volumetric flow measurements and tablet friability for the determination of excipient effects on dosage forms are given.
