IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP The long-term compatibility of mixtures of sodium valproate and pyridoxal calcium phosphate in heat-sealed polyethylene-laminated glassine paper and stored under various conditions for 90 days was examined. Under the most severe condition (30DGC and 90% relative humidity), the color of the mixture changed to dark yellow and the weight increased by 20-35%. Although the sodium valproate content in the mixture did not change, the pyridoxal calcium phosphate content decreased by approximately 15%. When the mixture was stored in the paper bag at 20-30DGC and in the air-tight receptacle at 25DGC and 50% relative humidity, the decrease in the sodium valproate and pyridoxal calcium phosphate content was less than 7%. It was concluded that when preserved over a long-term period, the mixture of sodium valproate and pyridoxal calcium phosphate should be avoided in high temperature and high humidity conditions.
