Abstract
IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP The detection of 3,4-benzypyrene hydroxylation catalyzed by an enzyme system referred to as aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase or benzpyrene hydroxylase, in several organisms of the human feto-placenta unit at 13-20 weeks of gestation is reported. The activity of this enzyme system in fetal tissues may be a highly important determinant of human fetal pharmacology and toxicology.
