Abstract
HEEP COPYRIGHT: BIOL ABS. Benzo(a)pyrene is present in the urine of non-smokers in greater quantities than in smokers as shown by TLC. Benzo(a)pyrene metabolites probably are present only in the urine of smokers. Positive Ames tests of smokers' urine revert to negative tests after 1 mo. abstention from smoking. Routine use of contraceptive ovuli containing anti-inflammatory substances can have anti-cervical cancer action and antimutagenic action in spermatocytes. Mutagenic or carcinogenic agents are factors which favor senility. Mutagenic substances apparently cause early senility.
