#Stomatal clogging in relation to automobile particulate matter, cement and stone dust was studied in some plant species. P. longifolia showed the highest percentage of completely clogged stomates (81.0%) at the site which was highly polluted by automobile dust (Gurumindir) as compared with other species. The leaves of G. officinale were less affected by particulate matter even at Gurumindir. The effect of cement and stone dust on stomatal clogging was less pronounced. Highest clogging of stomates (24.81%) in leaves of I. grontioldes was found at National Cement Factory. P. glandulosa showed the minimum percentage of completely clogged stomates in comparison to C. procera, I. grantloides and S. surattense.
