Abstract
HEEP COPYRIGHT: BIOL ABS. Residue analysis of 20 moss samples of Racomitrium canescens and R. lanuginosum was carried out for polyaromatic hydrocarbons (1,12-benzoperylene, 3,4-benzopyrene, fluoranthene), chlorinated hydrocarbons (pentachlorobenzene, alpha-BHC, beta-BHC, gamma-BHC, heptachlor), and trace metals (Zn, Cd, Pb, Cu, Ni, Cr, Fe, Mn). In sampling sites in central Iceland background concentration levels for the individual substances were detected. Principal component analysis of the data revealed anthropogenic a geogenic influences in the emission structure of Iceland.
