Abstract
The surface unmodified manganiferous ore catalyzed the radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate initiated by sodium bisulphite. An adsorptive surface modification of the ore with stearic acid was carried out to various extents. The influence of the surface coverage on the reaction parameters was investigated. The surface modification effectively retarded the catalytic action of the manganiferous ore and caused a drop of the viscosity average molecular weights of the polymers.
