Abstract
IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP The effects of perfluorooctyl bromide (I) on the inhibition of food absorption in rats and its possible use in the treatment of obesity are discussed. Because of its immiscibility with water and ability to spread over mucous membranes (low surface tension), small doses of I coated the stomach and a statistically significant inhibition of food absorption occurred.
