Some tetracoordinated new organotellurium(II) compounds of the type RR(1)TeL(1) and RR(1)TeL(2) (where R=R(1) = C(6)H(5)CH(2); R=R(1) = C(6)H(4); R=R(1) = C(6)H(5); R=R(1) = p-MeO C(6)H(4); R= p-Me(2)NC(6)H(4), R(1)= p-MeOC(6)H(4) and R= p-Me(2)NC(6)H(4), R(1)= p-EtOC(6)H(4)) have been prepared via the template condensation of 1,2-dibromoethane or 1,3-dibromopropane with aniline. The compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, PMR, IR, magnetic susceptibility measurements and X-ray photoelectron spectra. An octahedral geometry has been assigned for all these compounds.
