Abstract
Polymerisation of hexafluoro-1,3-butadiene (1) using γ-rays as initiator is dependent on the solvent, and tetrahydrofuran is incorporated into a polymer. It is concluded from solid-state NMR data that polymers arise mainly from 1,4-addition to 1. Bromination of 1 occurs readily in the dark giving a product also arising from a 1,4-addition process.
