Abstract
The content of each individual monourea methylol compound, as well as that of urea and free formaldehyde, respectively, in urea‐formaldehyde (UF) resins is given. The reaction was carried out in concentrated UF solution at elevated temperature. The influence of the pH, the F/U molar ratio, the reaction temperature, and the reaction time was studied.
To obtain a low formation of condensed products, the pH had to be kept around 8.5 during the preparation (F/U = 1.4).
