Abstract
Specialty fertilizers offer unique characteristics and properties beyond those offered by commodity fertilizers, and have enjoyed increased market share in recent years. Specialty fertilizers are produced by commercial producers, blenders, and other firms offering combined services. The end markets for specialty fertilizers include agricultural operations, and lawn/turf products. Nursery and greenhouse demands are the greatest and are expected to remain so. Urea-formaldehyde products own the greatest market share, followed by polymer-coated fertilizers, sulfur-coated urea, and isobutylidene. All market sectors are demanding increasing attention to quality, consistency, and environmental implications.
