The efficacy of disinfectants of various classes against infectious bursal disease virus and avian reovirus was assessed by comparing virus titres before and after exposure to each disinfectant. The tests were conducted at room temperature and at 4 degree C, in the absence of and in the presence of 10 per cent organic matter. A 2 per cent solution of chloramine and a complex disinfectant containing formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde and alkyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride were effective against the two viruses in all test conditions.
