Abstract
The drawbacks of methods of stationary methanometers metrological checks by blowing the sensors with fresh air or reference methane-air mixture are discussed. The instruments calibration by these methods is labour consuming and makes it necessary to have in reserve a stock of instruments. It has been suggested to perform automatic calibration and correction of readings of the instruments at least once per shift using the methane being constantly present in mine atmosphere. To do this transient gas exchange processes are periodically genera-ted in the sensor and the indications during each transient process are taken for subsequent data processing.
