Abstract
The injection of methane requires the expansion of the top-segment matrix to include hydrogen and moisture (H2O) in the top-segment mass and enthalpy balances. Hydrogen input greatly increases due to the hydrogen associated with CH4(g). The H2/CO ratio in the top gas is introduced as a new equation to enable the balances to be solved. The impact of increasing CH4(g) injection on the top gas composition is calculated for various CH4(g) injection rates.
