The cure of urea formaldehyde oligomers of cyclic structure has been investigated by infrared spectroscopy. Hydrolytic splitting of some of the triazinone rings containing NH carbamide fragments takes place during curing in the presence of acid catalysts. The hardened resin is in the form of a three-dimensional network that includes completely substituted rings.
