Abstract
The methane deuterium exchange was studied over various Pt/Mazzite and Pt/A12O3catalysts. The reaction proceeds by simple stepwise mechanism with CH3D formation as a primary product. It is shown that on both Pt/alumina and Pt/mazzites the exchange rate strongly depends on the metal particle size. Another factor affecting the activity of small metal particles in these catalysts seems to be the metal-support interaction. On mazzite zeolites the possibility of blocking the mazzite channels for entering molecules by metal particles should also be taken into account.
