A time to choose: Final report of the Ford Foundation Energy Policy project, 511 pages
Abstract
These books are the outcome of the $4 million Energy Policy Project financed by the Ford Foundation and directed by S. David Freeman. Apart from its massive funding, this Project is noteworthy in having involved linked studies by numerous academic groups, demonstrating an ability to marshall large resources on collaborative research that is not evident in Europe. More important, it is one of the first attempts, certainly the biggest and most widely publicised, to diagnose the causes of the US energy 'crisis' and to set out basic policy alternatives for the future. Together with other completed studies and ongoing research, 2 these books represent a major contribution towards an understanding of the energy choices facing the USA.
