Abstract
TLV Recommendation based on the industrial experience of Elkins, Silverman et al., Linari et al., and Armeli et al. and the animal data cited by MacEwen et al. on kidney toxicity, the TLV Committee believes that a TLV-TWA of 50 ppm and a STEL of 75 ppm should adequately protect workers from the potential irritant effects, neurasthemic symptoms, and other systemic toxicities (including liver and kidney pathology) associated with levels of exposure to MIBK greater than the TLV and STEL.
