BBC have designed, built and tested a new medium-size gas turbine in the 45 MW power class (type 8). By using proven components and modern technology, it has been possible to improve both performance and efficiency considerably. All new components were designed with the aid of the latest analytical equipment. Major components were tested separately on models built to scale. To test the prototype machine, a power plant equipped with extensive instrumentation was built. The test results agreed closely with the design values.
