Abstract
A food preference questionnaire was completed by 101 patients at a repatriation general hospital. Subjects were asked to rate how much they liked or disliked 197 different food items on a 9-point hedonic scale. The subjects, mainly male (95%) and over 60 years of age (96%), had a high preference for red meat, eggs, fresh fruit, canned or stewed fruit. Red and yellow vegetables, dairy products, pulses and offal were liked least. The results will be useful for menu planning, especially for the elderly in institutions.
