Carbon capture from power generation
Abstract
This chapter describes the options for CO2 capture from large power plants—pre-combustion, oxyfueling, chemical looping, and post-combustion. The capture technologies that apply to each of these options are introduced, and the latest status of development is summarized, including brief descriptions of some projects from pilot-scale to commercial deployment. Issues relating to retrofitting and capture-ready plant construction are briefly discussed, and the chapter concludes with a review of some alternative approaches to zero-emission power generation.
