Abstract
Using the integrated infrared intensities corresponding to vibrational modes of some XY(4) [X = C, Si, Ge; Y = H, D, F] tetrahedral type molecules, the electro-optical parameters are claculated. The transformation matrix between normal coordinates and symmetry coordinates is obtained from virial theorem approach. The sign combinations are decided with reference to the equilibrium bond moments and bond lengths. Polar tensors of constituent atoms are calculated for preferred sign combinations and G sum rule is verified.
