A variety of new alternate copolymers have been prepared from several monomers in recent years. The ethylene-butadiene, propylene-acrylonitrile, styrene, acrylonitrile, styrene-methyl acrylate, and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers are examples of these types of polymers. However, the mechanical properties of them have not yet been reported. In this letter the author reports some mechanical features of a new type of alternate copolymers which were prepared by him from butadiene and acrylonitrile with a modified Ziegler-Natta catalyst, especially in comparison with those of the random copolymer prepared by conventional radical polymerization.
