This catalyst possesses active sites and basic sites in cooperative interaction. The formation of HOO** minus in an alkali pH region appears to be favored in H//2O//2 decomposition. The pyridine groups in the copolymer may also function as basic sites and promote the formation of HOO** minus . The catalytic activity is closely connected with a catalase-or a peroxidase-like substance.
