Abstract
(Salen)manganese(III) complex 4 bearing 1-(4-t-butyl-phenyl) propyl group as C3(3')-substituents and cyclohexanediamine as ethylenediamine part, was found to be a good catalyst for the epoxidation Of styrene derivatives. For example, epoxidation of 6-acetamido-2,2-dimethyl-7-nitrochromene proceeded with high enantioselectivity of 96% ee and that of trans-stilbene with 62% ee. The latter was the highest ec for the metal-catalyzed epoxidation of trans-olefins.
