Abstract
Cationic polymerization of styrene(St) initiated by 4,4'-azo bis(4-cyanopentanoyl chloride)(ACPC) and SnCl4 is described. Polystyrene samples possessing azo groups thus obtained were used in the polymerization of methyl methacrylate(MMA) at 70-degrees-C to obtain styrene-methyl methacrylate block copolymers. Characterization of block copolymers was carried out by fractional precipitation and spectroscopic methods.
