Abstract
The preparation of nanoparticles of poly(methylacrylate) (PMMA) latexes at θ condition was analyzed. For the preparation, PMMA standards (M w = 3.0*104, 1.0*105, 2.25*10 5 and 3.5*105 g/mol) from polysciences and benzene, n-hexane, toluene, and n-butyl chloride from aldrich were taken. The θ temperature for three solvents used were 20° C for benzene, 25° C for n-hexane, toluene and 32.6° C for n-butyl chloride. It was found that by using these temperature scales, similar particle size of about 20 nm and similar particle size distribution of 1.25 nm were obtained.
