Abstract
The incidence of racehorse fatalities at two Southern California racetracks, before and after being provided fluorosilicic acid treated water supplies, correlated with fluoridated water consumption. Possible contributing factors involved are discussed. Known toxicologic effects of fluoride that could contribute to breakdowns are presented. A working hypothesis is that fluoride ingestion under certain conditions can lead to increased breakdown incidence.
