Abstract
Polymer blends have been become one of the most important research in the field of polymers. Their importance arises from new and superior properties compared with one component polymers. The production of such polymer blends makes it possible to improve the physical properties of the individual polymers and consequently offers an economic way to design new polymeric materials with improved properties. Polymer blends may be miscible or immiscible according to molecular level. Three different types of blend can be distinguished: completely miscible blends; partially miscible blends; and fully immiscible blends. Most polymer blends form immiscible blends, revealing a prominent interface. This can be achieved by using different sorts of compatibilizers, added to the polymers involved, which are often semi-crystalline.
