A commercial form of modified barium metaborate monohydrate (Busan 11-M1, Buckman Laboratories, Inc.) and two commercial formulations of 2-(thiocyanomethylthio)-benzothiazole (TCMTB-60 and TCMTB-DM, Buckman Laboratories, Inc.), as well as the solvents of the latter two, methyl carbitol and DMATO, respectively, were evaluated as anti-termitic agents against the eastern subterranean termite, Reticulitermes flavipes (Kollar) (Isoptera: Rhinotermitidae). The materials were applied at concentrations of 100,000, 50,000, 10,000, and 5,000 ppm to cardboard rolls. Under choice-feeding conditions, none of the materials or solvents induced significant mortality indicating a lack of potential as bait toxicants. All materials, except methyl carbitol, did inhibit feeding at most concentrations, but none of the materials totally prevented feeding even at the highest concentration indicating a lack of strong repellency. Therefore, Busan 11-M1, TCMTB-60, TCMTB-DM, and DMATO appear to d
