Abstract
This review deals with recent developments in living anionic polymerization of non-polar monomers, especially the polymerization of styrene and diene monomers, using lithium as the counterion. The scope and limitations of this synthetic methodology are reviewed, with emphasis on recent developments in the synthesis of hydrocarbon-soluble dilithium initiators, functionalized polymers, block copolymers, macrocyclic polymers, and heteroarm, star-branched polymers.
