Trisubstituted ethyl vinyl ethers with (E) configuration and predetermined regiochemistry are easily prepared from carbonyl compounds via their readily available 5,6-dihydro-1,4-oxathiin 1 derivatives that undergo smooth reductive desulfurization by Raney-Ni in dioxane.<
