The reactions of the [Ru(CO)(3)Cl-2](2) dimer with 2-(phenyltelluro)ethyl methylsulfide, (1), bis[2-(4-methoxyphenyltelluro)ethyl]amine, (2), 2-(2-(4-ethoxyphenyltelluro)ethyl)-1,3-dioxane, (3), bis(4-methoxyphenyltelluro)methane, (4), 2-(4-ethoxyphenyltelluromethyl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran, (5), N-[2-(4-methoxyphenyltelluro)ethyl]phthalimide, (6) in 1:2 molar ratio give complexes of the type [RU(CO)(2)Cl-2.1](4) (7), [Ru(CO)(2)Cl-2.2] (8), [Ru(CO)(2)Cl-2.3](2) (9), [(Cl-2(CO)(3)Ru(mu -4))(2)Ru(CO)(2)Cl-2] (10), [Ru(CO)(2)Cl-2.5](4) (11) and [(6,Cl-2(CO)(2)Ru(mu -6))(2) Ru(CO)(2)Cl-2](12) which have been characterized by elemental analyses, H-1, C-13 [H-1] and Te-125(H-1) NMR, FAB mass and ER spectra in conjunction with molecular weight and molar conductance measurement. Compound 10 on reaction with AgClO4 gives [Ru(CO)(3)Cl.4]ClO4 in similar to 66 % yield, All these complexes have terminal CO groups as in their IR spectra the v(CO) bands do not appear below 1900 cm(-1). A molecular ion peak could not be observed in FAB spectra of most of the complexes but molecular associations are very well indicated. The deshielding of relevant signals on complexation indicates the binding modes of 1-6.<
