Mn-rich rocks occurring in the greenschist facies sequence of the Early Paleozoic were mineralogically investigated. They comprise rhodonite, rhodochrosite, rarely pyroxmangite, iron knebelite and manganpyrosmalite. Some Al-rich varieties additionally contain spessartine, manganoan actinolite, tirodite, chlorite, phengite and biotite. Apart from rhodonite and rhodochrosite the other Mn-minerals have not been reported from this area. Phengite and biotite described here are rich in BaO (up to 1.7%) and F (3.5%) respectively. The P-T-XCO(2) conditions of metamorphism calculated using the thermodynamic data of the present minerals are in the range of 400-420 degrees C at 3.5 kbar and XCO(2) 0.05-0.06.
