Abstract
(Chemical Equation Presented) Staying put: A binuclear phenyl hydride complex of chromium resists benzene formation by reductive elimination, even though the isomeric μ,-η6:η6 benzene complex can be prepared independently (see scheme, Ar = 2,6-iPr2(C 6H3)). Whereas the phenyl hydride shows evidence for metal-metal bonding and antiferromagnetic coupling, the bridging benzene complex features extremely strong ferromagnetic coupling with an S = 3 ground state. © 2007 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
