Abstract
The objective of this paper is to investigate the exogenous chemicals that interfere with natural hormonal functions and considered endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Estrone (E1) and Estradiol (17 beta-estradiol or E2) are natural female hormones and the most potent of all xenoestrogens. The occurrence of estrone (El) and 17 beta-estradiol (E2), in the tissues of different edible fish and shellfish, collected along the Virginia Coast was analyzed by solid-phase extraction and analysis by gas chromatography, mass spectrometry (GC MS).
