In an attempt to search for alternative to fungicides, certain biocontrol formulations (Bacillus subtilis 1, Bacillus subtilis Bacillus purnilus, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Epicoccum nigrum and effective microorganisms [EMs]), zinc oxide nanoparticles, nanosilica and bentocide beside tetraconazole [Eminent] fungicide were evaluated against Cercospora beticola, the causative fungus of leaf spot disease of sugar-beet under field conditions. Also, effect of the tested materials on some parameters of sugar-beet e.g. leaf dry weight, root fresh weight, soluble solid content, sucrose content and purity of sugar were estimated. The results showed that the biocontrol formulations were the most effective treatments against the leaf spot of sugar-beet, followed by nanosilica and nanozinc oxide, respectively in both growing seasons. Assayed materials represent potential effective alternatives for fungicides in controlling the leaf spot of sugar-beet.
