Abstract
This article briefly reviews the situation regarding research ethics in Australia, Canada, Great Britain, and the United States. It notes some of the areas where regulations referring to social/behavioral research are similar, as well as areas where they differ. It then turns to the codes of ethics of various professional organizations, first describing them and then comparing and contrasting them. Finally, it points to the future of social/behavioral research and the emerging trend toward broader notions of research integrity and the responsible conduct of research. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
