The most common types of central tremor are essential tremor (ET) and parkinsonian tremor (PT), which may produce substantial physical and psychological disabilities. The separation between these pathological and physiological tremors in normal subjects may be difficult and could be a challenge. This article summarizes the progress in the field of central tremors and describes the pathophysiology, characteristic clinical findings, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic opportunities for the various types of tremor.
