As life expectancy has improved, the need to identify chronic issues associated with aging has increased, and in particular benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) in men. The clinical manifestations of BPH are represented by a combination of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) that varies among men. Providers can expect to see increasing incidence of BPH in their urology, and non-urology, clinics as the population continues to age. Successfully identifying who needs intervention and when to intervene with medication or surgery is essential in the care of aging men.
