A spodumene-bearing pegmatite is intrusive into greenstones in the southeastern part of the Vredefort Dome. The lithium-bearing amphibole, holmquistite, is present in some of the greenstones at the contact with the pegmatite. As far as known from the literature, this is the first record of holmquistite in the Republic of South Africa. A more detailed examination of this pegmatite and its contact phenomena is in progress. -Authors
