Abstract
This complex in the Coast Mts, E of Prince Rupert, contains migmatite formed by an Early Tertiary granulite-facies metamorphic event and quenched during rapid (2 mm/yr) uplift. Granitic melt was produced by cotectic melting of K-feldspar-bearing protoliths and by incongruent melting of biotite-quartz-plagioclase, with formation of amphibole; this occurred at = or >700oC at PH2O approx Ptotal = or > 3 kbar. At higher T (= or <825oC), a leucotonalite melt appears to have formed by cotectic melting of a hornblende-biotite-quartz-plagioclase assemblage.-R.A.H.
