Piperonyl butoxide is a chemical synergist that is added to carbamate, pyrethrin, pyrethroid, and rotenone pesticides to inhibit enzyme degradation or resistance to the pesticide, thereby increasing its effectiveness. © 2014 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
