Abstract
A rough classification for lithospheric metasomatic processes is put forward. Hydrous fluid metasomatism is a low-T phenomenon its chemistry controlled by the stability of carbonate and mica. Silicate melt metasomatism is a high-T phenomenon whose chemistry is controlled by the presence and migration of silicate melts and the stability of amphibole.-R.E.S.
