Abstract
The present study was conducted for the detection of three communly used carbamate insecticides (commercial formulations and their mixtures by uidimensional thin layer chromatography. Twenty different solvent systems and two developing reagents have been examined for the separations of their constituents and detection. Solvent soystem benzene-acetone - toluene (6:1:3) with spraying reagent potassium permanganate has been observed to be the most suitable for the separation and identification of carbamate compounds. The study will provide a useful information on the preliminary screening of the carbamates and their mixtures by TLC supported by the other analytical techniques.
